ENGAGED!!

So! Here is the engagement story! (I'm being lazy and copying it from some place else because I don't have time!!)

The day was the Friday before our long awaited New York trip with the school. I was absolutely convinced that Jake would propose on the trip because New York can be so romantic! But, he proposed the Friday before, just to surprise me!

I had to work that Friday, so I had to be home until 6. At 6 I was planning on going to the studio to work on my Senior Show project. Jake had ran some work errands with me earlier in the day and at about 3 he left to do some of the things he needed to get done. I texted him at about 5 and asked what he was doing, to which he said that he was playing video games with his housemate... which pretty much never happens. I asked him what he was playing and he said "Treasure Hunt". I said okay and kept doing things around the apartment.

Shortly before 6 he texted to let me know that he just got called to a meeting to discuss the mentor progam he just got started at the university and that he'd be up at the studio around 6:30. So I didn't feel any particular rush. At 6 I texted my assistant manager to see if I could take him all of the work things since he was going to work while I was in New York. He said I could in 20 minutes. So I wrote in my art journal and did other things until about 6:30 and then I took the things down to his apartment. I then gathered my paints, laptop, and art bag up and loaded up theback of the car.

Then I sat down and put the key in the ignition. I looked up and saw a red rose with an envelope. It read "Megan, Here is a small rose. As you start your journey to the studios, keep in mind the trek is short, but don't go straight there or I'll abort. So go to the place where I stared at you. A million words were spoken by eyes so blue." This meant to go to where we first met, the classroom in which we took Statistics together. With a big smile on my face I started the car and drove straight to the school house. I ran up the two flights of stairs and burst into the room. Where Jake used to sit there was another envelope. This one read "Megan, As you continue this path to art, look for me where we used to park, under a tree, on a hill there is a treat waiting for you where we parked our seats. Be swift my love 'cause it is cold, so I can't wait too long, or so I'm told." This meant to run to where a bench used to be on top of a hill in front of one of the school owned houses. We would sit here at night and watch the stars. We talked about so many things while sitting on that bench. I think that those are the nights our friendship blossomed.

I jumped back in the car and drove over there quickly. I ran to where the bench used to be. Under a piece of wood there was another envelope with a note that read, "Megan, Now go to a place where we thought we would trick the school... into thinking we just got engaged, where I'd look like a tool... Don't be confused you sent me here one day. In the rain I ran 'cause I wanted to play. You know it well, the food's okay, but I think this is a much better day." This note meant to run over the the cafe. We had a joke about getting engaged in the bathroom of this new cafe because a couple here at school were flaunting that they were the first to get engaged there... It's a long story. About me sending him there one day... I sent him on a scavenger hunt on his birthday, and this cafe played a role. So I jumped back in the car and drove over to the cafe. I ran in and asked for a note with my name. This one read, "Megan, To finish it off this game we play, to finish it off hopefully today... Go to a place where art is king. And hopefully there is where you'll find a bear. But make haste the day is short and so much to do, I can't abort."

With the end of this scavenger hunt looming I jumped in the car once more and sped to the studio. I parked quickly, but with no sign of Jake's car. I ran in the studio, bypassing other art students, and headed straight for my studio desk. On my desk (in front of my first painting!) was a vase of lilies and red roses with a bear holding a box of Godiva chocolates. On the box was a note that read, "Megan, Try a taste... I won't bite. This is a chocolate I know you'll like :)". So I opened the box... and in one of the spaces meant for a chocolate was a beautiful diamond ring! I picked it up and turned around... and Jake was on one knee with a ring box with a ring pop in it. He then asked me if I would marry him. I said yes, threw my arms around him, and then just as quickly jumped back and thrust the ring towards him to put on my finger!

We spent the remainder of the night calling family, texting, and visiting close friends. It was a great night :]

Jake's version of the story: I dug a well and waited... for her to fall in. Then I saved her.

Pictures to come! (Probably when we get back from New York City!!)
